Inbox Intuition: Do You Need to Draft Your Own Emails Anymore?

Artificial intelligence is invading your email inbox, in the same way that it’s marauding against the rest of your life.  And so, you’re making the decision – actively, every day: Do I give in, or try to hold out?

In some cases, it’s certainly worth it to hold out.  In others, it may be worthwhile to just surrender to the flow.

One of those latter cases may just well be sitting inside your email inbox.

Lawyers are buried in emails, generally.  I know, because they all complain about it to me – usually via email!  And yeah, I get it: samesies.

But, if there’s one thing that AI is good at, it is writing almost like us.  So, if you feel like you’re buried in email messages (I know you do), you can deploy artificial intelligence tools to draft email responses for you.  Not necessarily to send – you can (and, probably should) revise the final version of any law firm output.  But, gosh – having an email drafting assistant would sure save you some time.

Many attorneys still hand over their inboxes to another human – like a trusted admin person who can communicate on their behalf.  But, if you’re doing that now, and you switch to AI – well, there you go: that staffperson is free up again, to do more productive work inside of your business.

The best part: your artificial intelligence-based drafting partner will get better at writing like you, over time.

(Are we getting closer to building a society where AIs just communicate with each other?  Yeah.  But, we can save that thorny problem for another day 😊.)

If you want to try out some options, standalone programs like SuperHuman or Fyxer are worth a shot.  The AI-infused versions of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace can also get the job done.  And, if you’re feeling really frisky, build an agent in Claude or OpenAI.
